Ive been commissioned by a client in Scottsdale to create a trapezoid shape coffee table feature a sweeping natural edge in contrast with the chamfered straight edges. The exotic wood top is reclaimed from old growth CA Redwood with lace burlwood figure.
The wood surface was soaked in penetrating resin on both sides to harden the soft surface of the redwood to make it more durable and dent resistant during long term use as a coffee table at my clients condo in Scottsdale. The slab top was paired with a matte black steel pedestal base in a sculptural X form.
