Silky Oak River Table + Bench Build
This post will take you through our process of creating a large river style dining table and bench that we've been commissioned to build. We started with 3 reclaimed urban lumber silky oak live edge slabs from Wine Glass Bar Saw Mill here in Phoenix. All slabs were planed and drum sanded thickness matched before using the Festool TS75 track saw to cut off the outside edges and the DeWalt compact plunge router to cut the glass channels. We created a glass template and had a 1/4in thick smoke glass insert created. All steel legs and framework were powdercoated in a neutral satin dark silver to coordinate with the color of the sap wood.
